Vertical Jigging

Our records

In 2006 we started the first attempts with this innovative technique and after exciting and encouraging experiences, we can finally offer customers who want to experience the thrill of the purest deep jigging speed specifically dedicated to Esmoregal, in Creole dialect, amberjack. This fish is present in the Cape Verdean archipelago with its main species, Seriola dumerili, Seriola fasciata and Seriola rivoliana, the true esmorègal, that can attain more than 70/80 kg.

The current record of the center of a S. rivoliana is of 63 kg. We experienced multiple capture over 50 kg, even if the most common fish are around 20 / 30 kg. That kind of weight puts strain on both equipment and experienced fishermen for the great power of the fish. The Fishing Center offers the latest and most modern equipment for jigging, rods of different weights with fixed, rotary and electrical reel, as well as a plentiful of jigs of all brands and sizes.

You can also make attempts targeting big wahoo, yellowfin tuna and dorado. Excellent results are also obtained using the light jigging and Kabura inciku maneuvered near the bottom. With these types of baits can try your hand with mainly species of bottom including the typical and most common Garoupa (bluespotted seabass) the Méro (withe grouper) along with wrasses like Bedja (Blackbar hogfish) and the delicious Charraco (scorpionfish).

All the months of the year are good for fishing amberjacks but I suggest that best months are from July to November for the excellent weather conditions. We can arrange specific packages Jigginn expedition. You can find more detailed programs in the section "Special packages”.
